Ava Serra is an author dedicated to exploring unheard and overlooked narratives in fiction and poetry. Her work diverts from a canon that has traditionally excluded women, people of color, and those on the LGBTQ+ spectrum.
She was a finalist in the 2018 Gwendolyn Brooks Open Mic Awards. In 2019, the University of Otago awarded her first place in a poetry competition for international students. Her work has been featured in Lavender Review, Sonder Midwest, NAILED Magazine, POSTSCRIPT Publication, and Northwestern University's Rosa La Rose.
